Dungeons & Dragons-inspired play, She Kills Monsters, at Jones Theatre

Laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres and ’90s pop culture, Qui Nguyen’s action-packed dramatic comedy, “She Kills Monsters”,will open at on Friday, March 31, at Jones Theatre in Daggy Hall.

Directed by Clinical Assoc. Professor Benjamin Gonzales, six performances at will be held March 31 and April 1, 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. nightly plus 2 p.m. Saturday matinees. The production includes strong language and mild adult themes.

Reserved seating for each performance costs $10 adults and $8 seniors (ages 60 and better), students and youth. A discounted rate of $6 per person is available to groups of eight or more.

Tickets are on sale at TicketsWest outlets, including online, by phone at 800-325-SEAT and in person at WSU’s Beasley Coliseum (ticket office open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday). The Daggy Hall box office will open two hours before each performance for ticket sales and will-call.

“She Kills Monsters” tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home after the death of her family in a car accident. When she finds her younger sister Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, Agnes decides to learn more about her sister by playing through a Dungeons & Dragons campaign Tilly had created.

In 2013, “She Kills Monsters” was awarded the American Alliance for Theatre & Education’s Distinguished Play Award honoring outstanding plays for young people.

“She Kills Monsters” is presented by WSU Performing Arts by special arrangement with Samuel French Inc.
