Discussion on ‘Braiding Sweetgrass’

Join the Association for Faculty Women and the Graduate School’s Professional Development Initiative for a discussion of Robin Wall Kimmerer’s book “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teaching of Plants,” on Tuesday, April 12, from noon to 1:30 p.m., via Zoom. Led by Karen Weathermon and Sarah Fick, the discussion will center on selected chapters of the book.

“Braiding Sweetgrass” draws on Kimmerer’s life as an Indigenous scientist, mother, and woman to argue that the awakening of a wider ecological consciousness requires the acknowledgment and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the rest of the living world. The sections selected for the discussion are stand-alone, and each is an invitation to consider professional, cultural, personal, and ecological issues in fuller, more connected ways.

More about the event and the selected chapters can be found at gradschool.wsu.edu/pdi/event/braiding-sweetgrass.
