Dangerous goods – hazardous material shipping

With the new 2023 regulations out, are you sure your shipment is not considered a dangerous good?

Some of the commonly shipped dangerous good items here at WSU include:

  • Specimens that are collected directly from humans or animals — even if they are not pathogenic or infectious
  • Lithium batteries (phones, computers, radios)
  • Dry ice
  • Chemicals
  • Bio-oils, fluids, and solids
  • Genetic modified samples
  • Biological products, samples, and cultures

Regulations have changed, so if you are not sure please call the dangerous good and hazardous material coordinator at 509‑432‑3869 and we will help you decide. Fines for shipping a dangerous good or hazardous material without labels or training have increased to $89,000.
