Common Reading Talk on Inclusivity in Sport, Oct. 12

Sport Management Associate Professor Tammy Crawford and former WSU varsity rower and transgender person Ashton Lo will discuss the benefits of inclusivity through sport on Tuesday, October 12, at 6:00 pm via Zoom at https://wsu.zoom.us/j/99450982707

This Common Reading talk affirms Nelson Mandela’s statement that “Sport has the power to change the world.” The speakers’ topics will include WSU’s historic place in the expansion of Title IX to include women’s athletics via a 1979 lawsuit. They will also discuss contemporary debates about inclusion, especially those concerning transgender athletes.

Why is sport important? What constitutes fairness? Does inclusivity in sport limit or promote opportunity? Please join Crawford and Lo as they discuss these questions.
