Common Reading Talk on the Impact of Bias on Officer Decision Making

WSU nursing faculty Steve James and Lois James will present a Common Reading talk, “The Impact of Bias on Officer Decision Making,” today at 4:30 p.m. The talk will focus on their research on implicit bias and its impact on police-citizen interactions, including use-of-force. Recently featured in Robin Hauser’s documentary Bias, Drs. Steve and Lois James work frequently with police departments across the nation to improve officers’ awareness of how implicit bias impacts their interactions with the public as a means of reducing its impact on officer decision making.
