Those interested in discussing ideas on how to incorporate this year’s Common Reading book, How the Other Half Eats, into a course or campus program are invited to the first of a series of summer discussions, Wednesday, June 5, from noon to 1 p.m. in CUE 518 on the Pullman campus. The discussion sessions offer opportunities to hear about resources and to share and brainstorm ideas; three will be held in-person and three will be offered virtually. Light refreshments will be served for those occurring in person. The full series of options, as well as the links for virtual sessions, can be viewed on the Common Reading calendar page.
The discussion opportunities augment an array of resources now available on the Common Reading website: a Teaching Guide, Library and MASC guides to relevant resources, a discussion guide, and more.
Those interested in considering use of the book in their course or program may request an exam copy from the site as well.
Thanks to support from the Office of the Provost, all incoming first-year students on the Pullman, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, and Global campuses will be receiving paperback copies of the book before the start of classes in August.
