Celebrate National TRIO Day with virtual keynote

The WSU community is invited to honor the creation and ongoing impact of TRIO programs at WSU and around the country at a virtual keynote address from Dr. Arnold Mitchem on Thursday, Feb. 24 from 12–1 p.m.

In his talk “Rooted in Justice: Celebrating the Creation, Legacy, and Ongoing Impact of TRIO,” Dr. Mitchem, the president emeritus of the Council for Opportunity in Education, will share the history of TRIO—a story of social justice in action, from policy to practice—and discuss why it matters for everyone.

The event is open to the WSU community. Please register online to attend.

About the Speaker

Dr. Mitchem has been a voice for low-income, first-generation students and individuals with disabilities his entire career. Thanks to his work, federally funded TRIO programs have expanded nearly 400 percent since their inception in 1964 and now serve more than 872,000 students at 1,200 colleges and universities.
