Call for volunteers: Help choose our future Coug docs

Washington State University’s Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine is seeking volunteers to serve as virtual interviewers and raters for MD Program admissions, helping to shape the next class of WSU medical students.

Faculty and staff from the WSU Health Sciences colleges and other units are invited to participate. No prior experience with admissions interviewing is necessary; training will be provided.

Virtual interview days for invited applicants are held on Mondays or Fridays from Aug. 25 to Feb. 2.

Interview days follow a mixed structured interview format for each applicant, including two live interviews and four recorded interviews that are rated asynchronously. Volunteers can serve as live virtual interviewers or recorded interview raters.

Live virtual interviewers conduct and score one-on-one live interviews following a traditional structured interview format. The total time commitment is approximately two hours per circuit of five interviews, with participation based on availability.

Recorded interview raters evaluate pre-recorded interviews. Raters score 10–20 applicants per session, with scoring time totaling 30–60 minutes. Session sign-ups are based on availability.

If interested, please contact WSU College of Medicine Senior Director of Admissions Keith Klauss (keith.klauss@wsu.edu) and provide the following:

  • Full Legal Name
  • Department
  • Preferred Phone
  • 3–5 sentences about why you would like to participate
