With the start of the new academic year, the CAHNRS faculty/staff evening fitness classes are available to all employees, staff, faculty, WSU retirees, and spouses there of. Classes are held at Ensminger Pavilion, Monday-Thursday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and taught by CAHNRS staff member Robert Yarbrough, a certified group fitness/aquatic fitness/Tai Chi instructor and holder of numerous exercise licenses. Classes are as follows:
Tai Chi (Monday) – a meditative movement as dictated by the Functional Aging Institute. There is both a beginner class (6:15-7 p.m.) and an intermediate class (5:15-6:15 p.m.). Great for working on your balance and cognition.
Zumba Gold (Tuesday/Thursday) – a low impact/low cardio, dance fitness class that will keep you moving. The class utilizes eclectic rhythms from around the world such as Salsa, Flamenca, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Tango, Rock & Roll, Folk, etc. No experience is necessary, just follow the instructor’s lead and move to the music at your pace.
Yoga (Wednesday) – an introductory Yoga class consisting of gentle stretching. Beginner poses are presented at various levels so one can stretch to their comfort. Great for working on flexibility and mobility.
Do note that sometimes Ensminger Pavilion is booked for evening events. On these days, class will shift to one of several backup locations. Notification is sent out through a mailing list. Each of the three classes has their own separate mailing list.
