Breaking News: Art breaking the Fourth Dimension at WSU

Wednesday, November 13, is the opening reception for the Fourth Dimension exhibit in the Compton Union Building Gallery on the WSU Pullman campus. This exhibit is in collaboration with the SEB Arts 30 year celebration of arts at WSU. Featured artists are WSU faculty or recent graduates, and demonstrate artistic excellence.

Professor Scott Blasco, Professor Reza Safavi, Austin Stiegemeier MFA, and Jovanni Luna BFA have developed an exhibit unlike any that has been displayed in the WSU Compton Union Building. Incorporating two-dimensional, three-dimensional, digital, and audio mediums to the exhibit, their work will invite student interaction. As participants engage with the work sound will be projected back into the space through different elements of the installation.  “This is unlike anything we’ve done before. It blurs the line between audience and artist through engagement with the work, and helps participants become part of the creative process. Different from an exhibit designed for viewers to experience works at a distance this show allows people to directly engage and contribute to the work through touch and sound.” says Student Involvement’s Coordinator of Arts and Programming Angel Nava.

For the opening reception, the third Sketch Wednesday of the year will be taking place at 12:20 p.m. in the CUB Gallery. Sketch Wednesday’s, are organized by the Student Entertainment Board CUB Gallery Committee, where local and student artists are invited into the space to do their work on a small scale. The Fourth Dimension Sketch Wednesday will feature DJ Isis on the turntables, a complimentary mock-tail bar, live art demonstrations, and works for sale. The event is free and open to the public.
