August Adventures with the ORC!

Make the most of August by taking an adventure with the Outdoor Recreation Center. The ORC will be hosting many adventures ranging from paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, and white water rafting. No matter what your experience level is, the ORC has an adventure for you.

  1. Sunset Paddle (Stand Up Paddleboard)

Grab a swim suit and grab a paddle. The ORC invites you on Aug. 16 to hop on a stand-up paddleboard and breathe in the beautiful Snake River. Whether you are experienced or if it’s your first time, all level of experiences are welcomed. Registration ends Aug. 13, prices range from $25-$40, depending on membership status.

  1. Sunset Paddle (Kayak)

Explore the beautiful Snake River on your own sea kayak, Aug. 17. No experience is necessary. Prices range from $25-$40. The trip cost includes kayak rental, transportation, and an Adventure Facilitator. Register early, spaces are limited. Registration ends Aug. 13.

  1. Kamiak Butte Hike and ORC Tour

Come along on this free 3.1-mile hike of Kamiak Butte lead by the ORC on Aug. 24. Hike through the scenic landscape of the Palouse. This trip is free of charge and includes a tour of the ORC, transportation, and trip leaders. No experience is necessary; registration ends Aug. 20.

  1. Whitewater Raft and Camp

Join the ORC’s whitewater adventure on Aug. 25 – 26 on Idaho’s beautiful Salmon River. Cost ranges from $115-$160, depending on membership. The trip cost will include transportation, an overnight stay at a campground near the river, raft guides, all necessary group camping gear, rafting equipment, and lunch. A mandatory meeting will be held on Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. at the ORC. Spaces are limited so register now. Registration ends Aug. 20.

  1.  Cascades Mountaineering

Take on an adventure of a lifetime with a three-day instructional climb on Mount Rainier from Sept. 7 – 10. Ascend as high as 10,000 feet to Camp Muir, a popular base camp for climbers. This climb will teach you the basics of glacier mountaineering, including self-arrest training, and rope techniques. Prices range from $185 – $225 depending on membership status. The trip cost includes group gear, transportation, permits, and Adventure Facilitators. Food, clothing, and mountaineering boots are not included but are required. A moderate to high level of fitness is required for this program as well. Spaces are limited and registration ends Aug. 27.
