2024 MLK Spirit Awards

The Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Service Award Committee is seeking nominations for the 2024 Spirit Awards. The WSU Spirit Awards celebrate the life, legacy, and spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. by honoring WSU community members who are dedicated to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

The awards recognize individuals around the WSU system who continue King’s work in an extraordinary way. To be considered, all nominations must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5. Nominations can be submitted online and should cite the nominee’s specific efforts and accomplishments.

There are five awards categories:

  • Distinguished Service Awards
  • Bayard Rustin LGBTQ+ Excellence Award
  • Community, Equity, and Social Justice Award
  • Elson and Carmento Floyd & William and Felicia Gaskins Social Justice Advocate of the Year Award
  • Power Award (WSU Athletics)
