Boyd receives Alumni Achievement Award

Stan Boyd, a 1978 graduate of Washington State University, was awarded the Alumni Achievement Award on Saturday, Aug. 26, at the WSU College of Business fall season kick-off event held at Boyd’s home in Napa, Calif. Terry Umbreit, director of WSU School of Hospitality Business Management, presented the award.

After graduating from WSU, Boyd began working for The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco where he became the senior vice president of sales and marketing.

After working at The Fairmont for 17 years Boyd became the division vice president of Travelclick, a consulting company that specializes in electronic marketing. His most recent endeavor has involved starting his own winery, the Boyd Family Winery, located in the Napa Valley.

As a result of his hotel industry experiences, Boyd has become a generous advocate for WSU’s hospitality program. He has helped sponsor alumni receptions in San Francisco and Chicago and has assisted in maintaining a recruiting program at WSU for The Fairmont Hotels. Boyd was also a frequent guest speaker for the hospitality program at WSU and served on the school’s advisory committee.

Boyd is the 458th WSU graduate to receive the Alumni Achievement Award.

The award was created in 1970 by the WSUAA Board of Directors to recognize alumni who have given outstanding service to WSU and made contributions to their professions, community and nation. The award encourages alumni to provide perpetual service to WSU.
