Job Outlook Brightens for New Graduates

Employment outlook improves. New college graduates and students who plan to complete their studies this academic year can look forward to an improved employment outlook. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, employers expect to hire 13.1 percent more new college graduates in 2004-05 than they hired in 2003-04. The increased employer demand could help build on the gains enjoyed by members of the Class of 2004, many of whom saw healthy increases in starting salaries over the previous year. Debbie Edwards, director of WSU Career Services, and the career services staff can answer questions about the job market and how students should prepare to enter it. Edwards can be reached at 509.335.2547 or dedwards@wsu.edu. The general WSU Career Services number is 509.335.2546. The fall 2004 Career Expo of the Palouse, co-sponsored by the University of Idaho and Washington State University, will be held Wednesday (Sept. 29) at the University of Idaho Kibbie Dome.
