Officials Urge Planning to Avoid UA-WSU Traffic Problems

PULLMAN, Wash. — A men’s basketball rematch between Pac-10 leading University of Arizona and the Washington State University Cougars, who upset the Wildcats last month in Tucson, is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, in Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum.

The early starting time means that many fans will be coming onto campus at the same time the usual late afternoon campus exodus is underway. That could create traffic and parking issues, which transportation officials are hoping to ease with a bit of early planning.

One option, of course, is for people to stay on campus and attend the game. But, for those who wish to leave campus, transportation officials urge motorists to use alternate routes rather than Stadium Way. Pullman Transit also will be offering its regular service; students, faculty and staff may ride the bus free of charge simply by showing their CougarCard.

“We’re expecting a great crowd for this event,” said Bridgette Johnson, field operations manager for parking, transportation and Visitor Center. “Some advance planning should go a long way toward making this game work out well for everyone.”
