Volunteer opportunities abound during the holidays

Washington State University faculty, staff, and students have numerous opportunities to engage with their communities during the upcoming holiday season.

Writing letters to isolated seniors, delivering meals to families in communities across the state, or staffing a gingerbread village in support of type 1 diabetes research are among the offerings found on the university’s GivePulse website.

Since 2019, WSU has highlighted chances to volunteer within communities as well as virtually via GivePulse. The website is accessible to anyone with a wsu.edu email address. During the 2024–25 academic year, upwards of 5,100 Cougs across the state contributed more than 77,000 hours of service via GivePulse.

There are several activities highlighted on GivePulse for WSU students, faculty, or staff traveling to Western Washington over the upcoming holiday breaks:

A host of chances to spread joy and cheer remotely are also available, including writing letters for active military members, children in the foster care system, as well as isolated senior citizens.
