‘Lipid transport and metabolism in the brain’ — TMP Seminar Series, Tuesday, Jan. 9, at noon

Maria Ioannou, PhD — Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta — will be visiting WSU Spokane. Her seminar entitled, “Lipid transport and metabolism in the brain” will be in person in the Spokane Center for Clinical Research and Simulation room 250 and through Zoom on Tuesday, Jan. 9, noon–1 p.m.

Dr. Ioannou obtained her BSc and MSc with Dr. Margaret Fahnestock at McMaster University, her PhD with Dr. Peter McPherson at McGill University, and her post-doctoral training with Drs. Zhe Liu and Jennifer Lippincott-Schwartz at the HHMI Janelia Research Campus. She started her lab at the University of Alberta in May 2019. She also holds the position of Canada Research Chair in Brain Lipid Cell Biology while serving as Assistant Professor for the Department of Physiology and Adjunct Assistant Professor for the Department of Cell Biology.
