Four nights of firewall maintenance begins tonight

Information Technology Services is completing a multi-date firewall maintenance to address a security advisory beginning Monday, Sept. 20 and finishing Thursday, Sept. 23 following the schedule listed below.

Users logged into remote Voice Private Network (VPN) during each of these changes will lose connection temporarily in Pullman, Spokane, Everett, and Vancouver.  However, no additional follow up action is required for customers upon completion of the maintenance.

Monday, September 20th – 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

* Everett Border* Spokane Border* Vancouver Border* Spokane SBDC Border* Spokane iReach Border* Yakima Border

Tuesday, September 21st – 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.* Pullman Neill MCF* Pullman Sloan MCF* Pullman ITB MCF* Pullman FSHN MCF* Pullman Holland MCF

Wednesday, September 22nd – 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.* Pullman Border

Duration of impact for all locations:

  • All Pullman, Everett, Vancouver, Yakima, and Spokane iReach firewalls – No expected service interruption.  The upgrade will cause a one- to two-second delay in internet traffic at least two times, possibly affecting very sensitive jobs and causing disconnection from VPN.
  • Spokane Border and Data Center Firewalls – Two five minute outages are expected during the maintenance, however the entire maintenance window is reserved for this work.
  • Spokane SBDC Firewall –Outage will be approximately 30 minutes while the firewall reboots.  However, the entire maintenance window is reserved for this work.
