Washington State University is among the Top 100 public schools in the United States in the latest ranking from U.S. News & World Reports.
WSU jumped five spots from its USN&WR rankings last year to tie at No. 99.
“WSU’s continued rise in the U.S. News rankings is an important recognition of the momentum we are building across the university,” said WSU President Betsy Cantwell. “We are investing in student success, academic excellence and research that makes a difference—and those investments are producing results. As Washington’s land-grant university, we are expanding opportunity for students, preparing graduates for a rapidly changing world, and putting WSU’s knowledge and innovation to work for communities across our state and beyond”
WSU’s undergraduate international business program is now among the top-ranked in the nation. It rose to No. 26 nationally in the latest rankings, tied with Arizona State and University of Miami. WSU’s undergraduate business program also saw improvement, jumping five spots and now sitting tied at No. 83 in the nation.

For students looking for the charm of a small college town away from the bustle of busy cities, WSU ranks No. 6 among national public universities situated in rural areas.
Among all universities in the nation, WSU tied at 191st in in the U.S. News’ 2027 rankings, which debuted earlier this week. It also placed among the top 200 schools in terms of best value among national universities, a ranking based on academic quality and net cost of attendance.
More than 1,700 colleges and universities are included in USN&WR’s 2027 Best Colleges rankings, with the company using up to 17 measures of academic quality and graduate success to conduct its assessment.
