CougStarter student crowdfunding launched Oct. 14

CougStarter, WSU’s online student crowdfunding campaign, launched Wednesday, October 14.

The campaign allows WSU donors, alumni, friends and families to support student-led initiatives through online giving and peer advocacy. Visit the CougStarter website to learn about this year’s project and participate in the campaign.

In its inaugural year in 2019, the campaign saw generous donors provide more than $11,000 in support to six student projects. The 2020 lineup features students groups representing three WSU campuses and diverse project objectives.

“We are excited to provide this platform for these students to advocate their important projects and causes, and to share the good work they are already doing to enrich the WSU student experience. We are always inspired to see the real-time impact of crowdfunding, especially when it’s Cougs coming together to lift students up.” aid Jessica Billings, Director of Development, Annual Giving.

Online crowdfunding is growing in popularity around the world. It allows projects of all sizes to reach potential donors interested in their causes. The system allows donors to make secure online gifts, follow projects through updates and communications, and advocate for selected projects through social media or email.

CougStarter is designed to connect WSU’s generous base of donors and volunteers with the University’s many student groups and organizations. Gifts through the CougStarter program are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The Notices and Announcements section is provided as a service to the WSU community for sharing events such as lectures, trainings, and other highly transactional types of information related to the university experience. Information provided and opinions expressed may not reflect the understanding or opinion of WSU. Accuracy of the information presented is the responsibility of those who submitted it. The self-uploaded posts are reviewed for compliance with state statutes and ethics guidelines but are not edited for spelling, grammar, or clarity.
