School of Music Faculty Artist Series opens Sept. 14

Washington State University’s School of Music Faculty Artist Series begins September 14, at 8 p.m. in Bryan Hall Theatre.  Martin King, horn and Christopher Dickey, tuba open the season with Conical Collaborations, an eclectic program of standard solos and chamber music for brass. The brass players will be accompanied by piano professors Karen and Jeffrey Savage.

The fall series includes Wailing Fantasies on September 21, PENTECOST: New Electronic Music on September 28, 88 Squared on October 5, Memories in Song on Oct 12, Brad Ard Opus 62 on October 19, and Pipes and Brass on October 25.  More information can be found at music.wsu.edu/faculty-artist-series/

Previously scheduled throughout the work week, this year’s Faculty Artist Series concerts will primarily occur on Friday evenings.  Music faculty, Sophia Tegart notes “My wonderful colleagues and I will be performing these concerts for students and employees of Washington State University, and the ever-supportive Pullman community. With fifteen Faculty Artist Series opportunities this season, it’s the perfect way to celebrate the end of a work week.”

Patrons will find getting to the concerts easier than ever with WSU Transportation Services’ new Evening and Weekend Parking map (transportation.wsu.edu/parking-maps/) that indicates close, paid parking as well as free parking options.  Dean Luethi, Director of the School of Music, is “grateful to the staff at transportation services for working with the department and providing better communication about parking near our concert halls. We want the community to have easy access to campus so they can experience our music.”

The Faculty Artist Series was created to generate funds for scholarships for music students.  Proceeds from the sale of tickets goes directly to support WSU music majors.  Tickets are available in the lobby one hour before performance: $10 general admission, $5 senior citizens (55+) and non-WSU students and free for WSU students with ID.
