Jan.15 – PERS, TRS and LEOFF Presentations:

Human Resource Services (HRS) and Mark Miller, ICMA-RC Financial Education Specialist, will present the following classes on Jan. 15 for PERS, TRS and LEOFF participants. The presentations will be located in the Lighty Student Services Building, Room 405, and also available by video-conference for non-Pullman locations.

8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Getting to Know Plan 3 (same as 11 a.m. session)

Target Audience: New and Existing Plan 3 Participants, and PERS 2 members eligible for January Transfer.*

9:45 – 10:45 a.m. Plan 3 Pre-Retirement Seminar (Withdrawing from Plan 3)

Target Audience: Plan 3 participants within 5 years of retirement.

11 – Noon Getting to Know Plan 3 (same as 8:30 a.m.  session)

Target Audience: New and Existing Plan 3 Participants, and PERS 2 members eligible for January Transfer.*

1 – 2 p.m. Plan 1 and Plan 2 Pre-Retirement Seminar

Target Audience: Plan 1 and 2 participants within 5 years of retirement.

TRS 3 members are able to change their contribution rates during the month of January, if they wish. Please go to https://drs.wa.gov/Forms/Member/trs3rateChange.pdf and print off the Plan 3 Contribution Rate Change Form if you wish to make a change. You will need to submit the completed form to the HRS Pullman office no later than Jan. 31.

*Every January, eligible PERS Plan 2 members have the opportunity to transfer to PERS Plan 3, if they wish. Active employees participating in PERS Plan 2 who first established membership prior to March 1, 2002 are eligible to participate in this annual transfer to PERS Plan 3.

 PERS members hired on or after March 1, 2002 are not eligible to transfer to PERS Plan 3, since their plan election was an irrevocable plan choice during their first 90 days of eligible employment.
