SUNNYSIDE, Wash. — Middle school students and their parents can learn why math and science make great career choices during the MESA Middle School Conference this Saturday, Nov. 3, at Sierra Vista Middle School in Sunnyside.

MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) is an early outreach program operated through WSU Tri-Cities in Richland.

Workshops for students and parents will teach about the career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics; the higher education needed to get those jobs; introduce professionals who can provide advice; plus talk about how to successfully get through the school system and get the financial aid to earn college degrees.

The day includes lunch and a “Science on the Go!” presentation by the Pacific Science Center. Doors for the event open at 8:30 a.m., with the welcome at 9 a.m. The closing ceremony ends by 2:30 p.m.
