Mt. Vernon pathologist earns CAHNRS award

Inglis

Debra A. Inglis will receive the 2009 CAHNRS Women’s History Recognition Award for Professional and Academic Leadership.

 

Inglis is an associate professor of plant pathology at WSU. From 2004 through 2008, she served as interim director of WSU’s Northwest Washington Research and Extension Center in Mount Vernon. As interim director, Inglis led the renovation of the NWREC, raising nearly $2.5 million from the local community and executing a plan to keep the center in full operation while replacing its major structures.

Boehmke honored at farewell reception

The WSU community is invited to attend a farewell reception in honor of Karl Boehmke, executive director of Planning and B udget, who is retiring after 32 years of service. The reception will be on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

The reception will be held in the Lewis Alumni Centre Great Hall and a breif program will be presented during the reception. For more information, call Willemina Kardong at 335-6664.

Homecoming events held at WSU

Washington State University will host a series of events during the Homecoming weekend Oct. 5-6.

The football game WSU vs. Arizona State will take place at 1 p.m. Oct 6 at Martin Stadium. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 1-800-GO-COUGS, option 3, or online.

On Friday, Oct. 5 there will be a street fair 11:00 a.m. -1 p.m. on Glenn Terrell Mall. Student groups will have food, games and give-aways.

The annual Homecoming Bonfire with the football team, cheerleaders, Butch and the Cougar Marching Band will take place at 6 p.m. at the Flag Lane Fire Pit, behind Mooberry Track.

Dr. Floyd to deliver system-wide address Friday

Incoming President Elson S. Floyd will address the University community this Friday, February 9 at 2:15 p.m. The address, to take place on the Pullman campus in the Food Science and Human Nutrition Building, Room T-101, will be broadcast to WSU campuses in Spokane, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver.A question-and-answer period with Dr. Floyd will follow his remarks. Attendees located in T-101 and at the regional campuses will be able to ask Dr. Floyd questions directly. Honors commencement features investment exec

PULLMAN – Stephen Sundquist, retired managing director of national accounts and chief information officer for Frank Russell Investment Group, will be the guest speaker at the fall 2006 Washington State University Honors College commencement reception. It is scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, in the lounge of Honors Hall on the Pullman campus. Two Honors students, seniors Inga Zornes and Chelsea Bloomberg, will be the featured musicians for the event. Zornes is a WSU Distinguished Regents Scholar and will graduate in WSU ceremonies Dec. 9 with a degree in music education.
