Background

The Legislature, during its recently completed legislative session, funded WSU’s $14.4 million biennial operating budget request for core funding to support the continuing development of the College of Medicine.

The operating budget package included allocations to complete per‑year funding for the College of Medicine’s existing cohort of 60 students, while also funding first‑ and second‑year instruction for an additional 20 students. In total, this allows the college to admit 80 students in fall 2019.

The request was WSU’s top legislative priority.
