STANWOOD, Wash. – Edible wild plants, home orchard pruning, beekeeping and pole building construction are just some of the 180 classes – 52 of them new – that will be offered at the annual Country Living Expo and Cattlemen’s Winterschool on Jan. 28 at Stanwood High School.
“Our program has grown to include not only rural farmers and cattle producers but urban homeowners, backyard farmers and apartment dwellers,” said Joan DeVries, program coordinator with Washington State University Extension.

Early registration through 2016 costs $70 adults and $40 students; a student scholarship rate of $10 is available for youths age 12-18. Registration includes coffee and pastries, five classes and choice of prime rib or vegetarian lunch. Some classes have a materials fee.
More than 65 vendors will be in the free trade show, and prizes will be awarded to entries in the yarn and fabric Fiber Palooza.
Hosted by Stanwood FFA, the expo is presented by WSU Extension, Livestock Master Foundation and Tri-County Cattlemen’s Association.
