The deadline for department leaders across the Washington State University system to submit budget implementation plans for the 2026 fiscal year is fast approaching.

The deadline for plans to be submitted for review is July 11.

In the midst of financial challenges at the state and federal level, members of the WSU Board of Regents approved a slimmed down FY2026 core funds budget compared to the prior year. Overall, the university cut its core funds budget by $17 million, or 4.1%, with reductions for units ranging from 0–10%. Six units were excluded from reductions due to their critical academic or operational needs.

More information about ongoing efforts to shape the future of WSU is available on the university’s New Chapter website.
