The LCS Foundation has announced a new partnership, and annual scholarship, with the Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living (GCISL) at Washington State University. GCISL was established in 2018 to focus on building the future senior living workforce through academic programs, industry partnerships, and research.
“The LCS Foundation and the Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living share a passion for investing in the future leaders in senior living,” said Zane Bennett, LCS Foundation board member. “As the demand for talent in our industry grows, we are excited to support GCISL’s innovative curriculum and look forward to awarding the first LCS Foundation scholarship later this year.”
The GCISL senior living management program prepares students through industry-driven courses, immersive learning, community operations expertise, and industry-expert connections before they graduate.
“The industry has supported our efforts since day one,” said Nancy Swanger, GCISL founding director, “and the establishment of this scholarship at Washington State University by the LCS Foundation is such a blessing for our students.”
The Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living was named for the late Granger Cobb, a pioneer in the senior living industry. From owning one community in 1989 to becoming the CEO of Emeritus and a Brookdale board member, Cobb’s career-long commitment and passion for seniors is reflected in the institute that now bears his name.
Since its inception in 2017, the LCS Foundation has awarded more than $450,000 for scholarships and professional development programs. The Foundation also has collegiate partnerships with the University of Northern Iowa, Northwood University, and the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. The partnerships have placed senior living experts on advisory boards, developed curriculum, and helped to provide students with interactions that advance their learning.
