Interlibrary loan requests simplified

Washington State University Libraries system-wide have made the interlibrary loan process simpler, with one spot to request resources through Search It.

Use Search It to request physical items (books, government documents, DVDs, and CDs) from other libraries, book chapters from other libraries, e‑book requests, articles not available online, and scans of articles or book chapters the WSU Libraries own in print. Instructions to request these resources can be found on the WSU Libraries website. Libraries’ staff will respond to requests in two business days.

“Easy-to-navigate user interfaces and speedy delivery of resources are top priorities for the WSU Libraries,” said Alex Merrill, head of systems and technical operations. “With the upgrade and consolidation of our resource-sharing systems this past July, we are continuing to make strides toward a seamless requesting and delivery process for the WSU Libraries’ community.”

To request an item using Search It, patrons must sign in and use the “Articles, Books, and More” search scope to see all interlibrary loan request options. If users can’t find the item they want to request in Search It, they can still request it using the blank interlibrary loan request form.

Patrons can view, update, or cancel a request through the My Account > My Requests area in Search It. From here they can see the status of requests and download any article or book chapter requests that have been filled digitally.
