Washington State University College of Education faculty member Sola Adesope has been reappointed as associate dean for research and external funding.

Adesope, a professor of educational psychology as well as the Boeing Distinguished Professor of STEM Education, will begin his second two-year term on July 1, 2023.

Dean Mike Trevisan said it should surprise no one that Adesope was reappointed.

“Sola is an accomplished scholar and thus knows the research landscape well,” Trevisan said. “He’s also an ambassador for faculty, the College of Education, and WSU and has developed a level of sophistication for the position that helps him navigate a complex organization system toward positive research ends for the college.”

Trevisan said Adesope is “enormously generous” with his time, energy, and his mindsight of giving back.

“In short, Sola believes that many individuals helped him to progress through the academic ranks and now feels that it is his turn to give back,” Trevisan said. “Well said, Sola. I think his outlook and accomplishments is a model that I hope other faculty will emulate.”

In making the decision, Trevisan consulted with the college leadership team as well as individuals who frequently work closely with Adesope.
