WSU hosts Veterans Day events systemwide

In recognition of Veterans Day, Washington State University will be hosting a series of events across the university system this week. 

WSU historian Ryan Booth will give a Common Reading Talk, “Hidden in Plain Sight: The U.S. Indian Scouts, 1866–1947,” at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, in CUE 203 on the Pullman campus. The talk will also be available via Zoom.

Booth brings to the topic expertise in Native American and U.S. military history. 

The Military-Affiliated Student Symposium takes place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the CUB Senior Ballroom in Pullman. Registration to attend the event virtually is available online. 

The overall theme is “Transition and Resiliency.” The event will include featured speakers as well as opportunities for discussion. Students, staff, alumni, and community partners associated with all campuses in the WSU system are invited to attend.

Global Connections, the student involvement program for WSU’s Global Campus, is hosting a virtual Veteran’s Day Jeopardy game open to all Cougs at 5 p.m. on Nov. 10. The jeopardy style event will include questions pertaining to veterans and the United States Armed Forces. 

At WSU Spokane, Veterans Services will be hosting a lunch for all veterans & military affiliated students from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Nov. 9 to show appreciation for their service and support to service members. Reserve spots for the luncheon online. 

Finally, Spokane Chiefs Night for WSU-Spokane Veterans and Military Affiliated Students is taking place starting at 6 p.m. on Nov. 19 at the Spokane Arena. WSU affiliated veterans are invited to cheer on the Spokane Chiefs Hockey team as they take on the Calgary Hitmen for a discounted price. Reservations can be made online.
