Washington State University esports fans will be able to watch the live semifinals and finals of WSU’s first-ever system wide esports tournament on Sunday, April 10.

The culmination of the tournament, titled Global Gauntlet, will be streamed live, starting at noon Pacific Time, on Twitch.

The tournament began on March 21. During the competition, 16 teams of WSU students battled it out in the video game Rocket League

“It was exciting to watch WSU’s esports community come together for this tournament,” said James Hoplin, WSU’s esports coordinator. “We had Cougs new to esports as well as seasoned gamers enthusiastically competing together, and that was awesome to see.”

Global Gauntlet is hosted by WSU Global Campus and was open to students from all campuses and locations in the WSU system. The grand prize for each member of the winning team is an Xbox S Series gaming console. Other prizes will be awarded to the second and third place teams.

“It was a great time, and we saw a lot of talented competitors rise to the top. The entire WSU esports community is excited to see who wins it all,” said Hoplin.
