Become a WSU Beach Watcher

EVERETT, Wash. – Receive 80 hours of classroom and field training on Puget Sound wildlife, coastal processes, water quality, climate change and more through Washington State University Extension’s Beach Watcher program.

Classes are online and are held every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from March 10–June 2. Course fee is $200, $150 if registered before Feb. 24. Need based scholarships are available upon request.

Upon completion, share your new knowledge as a citizen scientist volunteer by giving back 80 hours over the next two years to projects that you select.

Advantages of enrolling in the program include immersing yourself in Puget Sound stewardship knowledge and finding a community of like-minded people.

Options to volunteer are wide-ranging. Choose one of the following programs:

  • Share what you learn to help others conserve Puget Sound health
  • Get involved in one or several Puget Sound related research projects
  • Bring your own ideas to craft your own volunteer experience.
