WSU School of Music brings cheer to the Palouse on Dec. 4

Music lovers across the Palouse can usher in the holiday season with Washington State University School of Music’s inaugural “Holiday Celebration: Let It Glow” at 2 p.m. on Dec. 4, in a fully decorated and glowing Bryan Hall Theatre on the WSU Pullman campus. This event is free and open to the public.

Sharing the stage will be WSU’s Concert Choir conducted by Dean Luethi, Crimson Ties (WSU’s World Music Ensemble) directed by Darryl Singleton, University Singers conducted by Matthew Myers, Symphony Orchestra conducted by Danh Pham, Guitar Ensemble directed by César Haas, and several student soloists and small ensembles. 

This collaborative musical experience will feature music celebrating the holidays including works by: Molly Ijames, Dale Warland, Michael Engelhardt, Eric Whitacre, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Elaine Hagenberg, Antonio Vivaldi, and many others.

This concert is family-friendly and will include a silent auction. Items include sports tickets (Seattle Mariners, Spokane Chiefs, etc.), golf packages (Palouse Ridge Golf Club, Colfax Golf Course), donations from local businesses including the Pullman Grocery Outlet, A Modern Plantsman, Beacon Hill Brownies, and an opportunity to conduct the Cougar Marching Band at a home football game! Additional auction items can be donated to Jacqueline Wilson at Jacqueline.wilson1@wsu.edu. All proceeds benefit WSU School of Music student scholarships.

Audience members are required to wear masks and encouraged to sit in “pods” with friends and family. For those not able to attend in person, the performance will be live streamed on the WSU Pullman Music YouTube channel. The silent auction will open online Dec. 1 and will remain open until the day of the concert on Dec. 4.
