The playing surface at Martin Stadium on the Pullman campus will be renamed Gesa Field under a 10-year, minimum $11 million agreement with Gesa Credit Union approved Friday by the Washington State University Board of Regents.
“Washington State University was established 130 years ago to serve the citizens of our state,” said WSU President Kirk Schulz. “That commitment to improving the lives of Washingtonians is in our DNA. For that reason, we are thrilled to partner with Gesa Credit Union, an organization that shares our pledge to community service.”
The total value of the agreement can escalate as additional Gesa consumer-based incentives are reached.
Gesa, the second-largest credit union in the state, will open two student-run branches on the Pullman campus. It will also offer specially designed WSU co-branded debit and credit cards that will be available to members and provide support for the Cougar Athletic Fund. The credit union is based in Richland, Washington.
“This is an exciting day for our team members and nearly 260,000 members throughout Washington state,” said Gesa Credit Union President and CEO Don Miller. “WSU’s mission to advance, extend and apply knowledge aligns with our mission and long tradition of supporting educational causes.”
The name will formally change to Gesa Field on July 1.
“Gesa is highly motivated to be active with athletics, the university at large and within the Pullman community,” WSU Athletics Director Pat Chun told members of the Board of Regents.
