The university is continuing to make progress in the search to hire its next provost—a search expected to conclude near the end of spring semester.

The 15-member search advisory committee co-chaired by Julie Kmec, professor of sociology, and Stacy Pearson, vice president for finance and administration, recently completed work on an Opportunities and Challenges Profile for the position. The profile provides summary information about WSU, the provost’s duties, and the university’s future plans.

Isaacson, Miller, the national executive search assisting the search, is using the Opportunities and Challenges document to recruit candidates for the position. The WSU community is invited to nominate individuals for the position or encourage them to apply via the Isaacson, Miller website.

The provost serves as WSU’s chief academic officer, overseeing system-wide academic programs and providing leadership for academic administrative operations and enrollment management functions. Bryan Slinker, who has served as dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine for more than a decade, is serving as interim provost through June 30.
