The Washington State University Board of Regents held a retreat on Friday, Jan. 24 to evaluate progress on several compliance-related efforts and to begin discussion of WSU’s draft strategic plan.
Meeting in Seattle, the board received updates regarding ongoing work to address compliance matters in the areas of information technology and civil rights. The board also spent time reviewing the first draft of WSU’s five-year strategic plan. This document will be shared with the campus community for public comment in early February.
The Regents received a presentation on enrollment management as well. The board reviewed efforts underway to more fully integrate WSU’s student recruitment process and to adjust the University’s tuition waiver policy.
In addition to these work session discussions, the Regents addressed several action items as well. The board unanimously approved the sale of a 30-acre parcel of land adjacent to the WSU Tri-Cities campus to the Richland School District. The board also approved a resolution to strengthen the University-wide compliance program and hire a chief compliance officer for Washington State University.
The next WSU Board of Regents meeting will take place on the WSU Tri-Cities campus on March 12 and 13.
