The 2018 WSU Safety, Health and Security Fair and Awards Event will be held 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the CUB Senior Ballroom.
The event, launched by the Executive Safety, Health and Security Steering Committee, will highlight the university’s commitment to ensuring the health, safety and security of faculty, staff and students. An award ceremony will recognize the outstanding health and safety contributions made by individuals and groups across the university.
The fair will feature local business vendor booths and provide participants with interactive demonstrations. Participating vendors include Planned Parenthood, the Pullman police and fire departments, Snap Fitness, Mantis Martial Arts, Rite Aid and many more organizations and WSU departments.
Mike Kluzik, one of the organizers of the fair and event, said attendee interaction was a main goal of the event. For example, a demonstration on driver safety will be included, and interested participants will be shown how to get car lamps replaced.
“We’re looking for demonstrations that participants can get involved with in a fun way,” he said. “This year’s fair will have a lot to offer, and there will be something of interest for everyone.”
The safety awards presentation is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. Undergraduate and graduate student accomplishments in safety, as well as advances in environmental health and safety, laboratory safety, risk management and driver safety will be acknowledged during the presentation.

- Larry Grassmick, Custodial Services
- Bill Gardner, Public Safety
- Ryan Savage, UREC
Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend and celebrate their colleagues’ achievements in creating a safer campus.
