Netzhammer receives community leadership award

VANCOUVER, Wash. – WSU Vancouver Chancellor Mel Netzhammer has received the 2018 Washington Association of School Administrators Community Leadership Award for the Columbia River Region.

The award recognizes Netzhammer’s service to the students and families of Vancouver Public Schools. He has championed equity and excellence in education for Southwest Washington, and advocated for strategic partnerships among K-12 schools, higher education, and business and industry to capitalize on economic growth opportunities.

His collaborative leadership has enabled Vancouver Public Schools to build iTech Preparatory on the WSU Vancouver campus. He also served on the Vancouver Public Schools Management Task Force as an advisor to the superintendent and administrative team on critical issues facing the district.
