Presidential commissions accepting applications for new members

Two presidential commissions are seeking applications from all areas of the WSU community for the 2018-19 academic year.

The President’s Commission on the Status of Women gathers data, monitors emerging trends, and makes policy recommendations directly to the President regarding matters affecting the lives of women at WSU. They also collaborate with others across the university to sponsor and hold events, including the Women of Distinction Recognition Luncheon and Symposium on Monday, April 9.

The President’s Commission on Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation (GIESO) advises the President on matters relating to gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation. The Commission also identifies and advocates for policies and services in support of these issues and informs campus communities about these policies and services.

“I encourage the entire WSU statewide community—faculty, staff, and students—to consider applying for membership on these two presidential commissions,” said WSU President Kirk Schulz. “These groups directly impact the policies and actions we implement to address these two institutional priorities.”
