Trumpeter featured in Jazziz magazine

PULLMAN – One of the world’s top jazz journals, Jazziz magazine, features a composition by WSU graduate student and trumpeter Brendan McMurphy in a recent issue.

“Students from WSU have been featured for many years in Jazziz magazine,” said Greg Yasinitsky, coordinator of jazz studies. “I am proud to see our outstanding students receive this significant recognition.”

McMurphy recorded “Somewhere, Sometime” at WSU in the spring with other members of the award-winning WSU Jazz Big Band. He completed his master’s of arts degree in May. He was a student of David Turnbull, trumpet professor, and Yasinitsky.

Also included in the magazine is a CD that features a recording of McMurphy’s composition. Listen to a clip from “Somewhere, Sometime” here.
