Eagles Grant Awarded for Cancer Research

PULLMAN, Wash. –Gregory Poon, an assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy at Washington State University, has received a $10,000 grant from the Fraternal Order of Eagles for a cancer research project titled “Suppression of Resistance in Targeted Cancer Therapy.”

The grant was awarded by the Washington state Fraternal Order of Eagles to WSU’s Chronic Illness Research Center – formerly the Cancer Prevention Research Center – as the result of a call for research proposals.
 
Poon is a relatively new faculty member at WSU and arrived on the Pullman campus in August 2008.  He had completed a post-graduate fellowship at the Ontario Cancer Institute in the Division of Cancer Genomics and Proteomics.  He has a doctorate in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Toronto.
