WSU seeks nominations for faculty diversity award

PULLMAN – WSU is looking to its students, faculty and staff for suggestions of who should be honored with the next Faculty Diversity Award.
By giving this award annually, WSU recognizes distinctive and outstanding teaching, research or creative work and/or service or outreach by faculty that advance diversity in the university and the communities it serves.
“We know from nominations in previous years that there are many WSU faculty doing outstanding things to diversify our classrooms, workplace and community,” said WSU Provost Warwick Bayly.  “It is important for us to recognize and thank the people doing this important work.”
Criteria for the award, nomination and application forms can be found online by visiting the Office of the Provost or The Division of Student Affairs, Equity and Diversity. Nominations and applications can also be delivered to Alex Tan in the French Administration Building, Room 134, sent via campus mail (1013) or emailed to alextan@wsu.edu.
The submission deadline is Jan. 15, 2010.

The recipient will receive the award and be recognized at Showcase 2010 on March 26.
Michael Pavel, a professor in the College of Education, was the inaugural recipient in 2008.  Steve Burkett, Sociology and the WSU Graduate School, received the award in 2009.
Last year’s nominees and applicants are encouraged to resubmit their materials for consideration this year.
