PULLMAN, Wash.Washington State University’s Campus Climate Response (CCR) Team plans to conduct a public meeting at noon Wednesday, Sept. 23, in Compton Union Building 204.
Members of CCR decided to invite students, faculty, staff and the general public to their general meetings with the goal of receiving more feedback and ideas to improve WSU’s campus climate.
CCR was created by the Office of the Dean of Students more than three years ago as a way to respond to campus crises’ using a team approach. Many of the situations typically addressed by CCR involve issues of race, ethnicity, safety, violence, sexual orientation, gender, speech and ability.
The group’s focus has evolved over time and is becoming more proactive in nature. “The upcoming meeting is intended to help us build upon our strengths as a result of better engagement with the WSU community,” said Chris Wuthrich, WSU associate dean of students.
CCR plans to hold all of its regular meetings in a more public setting. Opportunities for public input will be welcomed after CCR members complete their regular business items. Meetings usually last one hour.
“I’m looking forward to a lively meeting where we all can engage in the effort to ensure WSU is a supportive and safe place for all students, staff, and faculty,” Wuthrich said.
