Museum of Art showcases the work of the fine arts faculty

PULLMAN – The WSU Museum of Art will display the Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition Aug. 27 to
Sept. 26.  The opening reception was held at the Museum of Art on Sept. 1 at 6 p.m.

This exhibit is an opportunity to celebrate the creativity of the current fine arts department faculty members. The exhibit includes a wide variety of works from the artists who provide inspiration to WSU students daily, allowing them to observe their mentors put skill and theory into practice.

Keith Wells, curator of the Museum of Art at WSU, said this year’s Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition will feature a diverse blend of works utilizing many different media.

“We’ve pushed the exhibit to the beginning of the semester so incoming students are immediately exposed to the manifold talents of the faculty,” he said. “The addition of several new members since the last faculty exhibit in 2007 has really changed the dynamic of the show – this year’s exhibit should be a particularly special one.”

Each faculty member is a practicing artist, along with the day job of encouraging young artists to find their own unique style.  Funding for this exhibit and programs has been provided by the WSU Museum of Art members.

The Museum of Art is located on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium in the Fine Arts Center on the WSU campus. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday until 7 p.m. The museum is closed Sunday.  For more information, contact the museum at (509) 335-1910
