Faculty, staff, grad student reports on agenda

PULLMAN – Faculty and AP staff reports about the year ahead will be part of the regularly scheduled board of regents meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, in CUB 204 on the Pullman campus.

The board will hold committee meetings Thursday afternoon in CUB 204.

Topics for action include:
•Extending a master of accounting degree to WSU Vancouver.
•Faculty manual revisions
•Consultant selection for phase 1 of the WSU Spokane Biomedical and Health Sciences Building
•Bond sales to refinance the Student Recreation Center.

Topics in the Faculty Senate report include:
•Faculty salary issues concerning merit/cost of living raises
•Impact of recent budget cuts and planning for the next biennium session, when we may be planning for further and deeper cuts
•How are we as a university going to define and determine quality in teaching and research in ways that will resonate with the legislature?
•How will we work with alumni, consultants and students to show the economic impact of what we are doing as a university?
•How are we going to maintain “transparency” in our budgeting and decision making processes?

Topics in the report from the Administrative Professional Advisory Council include:
•Helping Human Resource Services communicate the new AP classification and compensation plan to employees
•Ongoing training and professional development
•Developing stronger communication and networking avenues with AP employees statewide.

Topics in the report from the Graduate and Professional Students Association include:
•The proposed apartment management agreement between WSU and American Campus Communities
•Changes to the Graduate Study Center in Holland/Terrell Library
•Working with the Graduate School to promote leadership and mentoring skills.

Reports also will be presented by the WSU Foundation, Alumni Association and Associated Students of WSU.
