WSU launches support group for veteran families

PULLMAN — The Psychology Clinic at WSU will co-sponsor a free weekly Veteran Families Support Group 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 16 and 23, in Johnson Tower 365.
Spouses, partners and parents of veterans and active military members will meet for 10 sessions to share ideas and information about transitioning from military to civilian or college life. They will learn about identifying and understanding changes in their deployed or returning veteran and build a local support network.
The group will be facilitated by Jan Kusch, clinic director, and Mikel Stevenson, licensed clinical social worker at the Spokane VA Medical Center’s Veteran Trauma Recovery Program.
The group is a partnership between WSU, the state Department of Veterans Affairs Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Program and the Spokane VA Medical Center.
Preregistration is required. For more information or to sign up, contact the WSU Psychology Clinic at 335-3587. Find the Psychology Clinic location and parking information here.
