Campus traffic routes change at new transit hub

PULLMAN – A modification to traffic routing went into effect Monday, Aug. 17, near the center of the WSU Pullman campus.

The change in traffic patterns, part of the final phase of the ongoing Library Road project, is being made in the area around the new transit hub at the intersection of Thatuna and Campus Street near the old Bookie building. The transit hub will provide an organized load and unload area and a turnaround spot for buses and other vehicles. The new traffic pattern will create a loop through the transit area.

“The changes will improve safety and access around the new transit hub. This is a busy area, used both by vehicles and pedestrians, so we want to alert people that this will be happening Monday,” said James Stone, construction engineer for Capital Planning and Development.

Stone said directional signage is being put in place at key locations around the transit hub to indicate what the changes will be.

The changes include:
• Campus Street – Between B Street and Thatuna Road, from two-way east/west to one-way east.
• Thatuna Road – Between Campus Avenue and Colorado Street, from two-way north/south to one-way north.
• B Street – Between Colorado Street and Campus Avenues, from two-way north/south to one-way south.
• Linden Avenue – Between B Street and Thatuna Road is now one way west.
• Intersection at Colorado Street and B Street – From 4-way stop to all-way stop.

Stone said anyone with questions about the changes should contact Capital Planning and Development at 509-335-5571.
