David Baumgartner recognized by IUFRO with Helmut Brandl Award

PULLMAN – David M. Baumgartner Ph.D., Emeritus Professor in WSU’s Department of Natural
Resource Sciences, has received the prestigious Helmut Brandl Award presented by IUFRO (International Union of Forestry Research Organizations)  for “Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Small-scale Forestry Research”. 

The award was made June 8, 2009 at West Virginia University during the international symposium “Seeing the Forest Beyond the Trees: New possibilities and expectations for products and services from small-scale forestry”.

IUFRO is “the” global network for forest science cooperation. It unites more than 15,000 scientists in almost 700 Member Organizations in over 110 countries, and is a member of ICSU. The award was co-sponsored by Springer Publishing, a leading global scientific publisher.  The award carries a stipend from Springer.
