PULLMAN — WSU Madrigal Singers will perform a spring concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Bryan Hall Theatre on the Pullman campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
Guest performers will be Post Falls High School Troubadors from Post Falls, Idaho. Under the direction of John Kracht, the ensemble will perform in Renaissance costume and perform madrigals including one by composer PDQ Bach (Peter Schickele), My Bonny Lass She Smelleth. This performing ensemble is a frequent visitor to WSU at the annual fall Educational Choral Festival sponsored by the School of Music.
The WSU Madrigal Singers, under the direction of Lori Wiest, will perform a set of madrigals in celebration of a long-awaited spring sung in Italian, English, German, and French, contemporary music by Phyllis Zimmerman, Jean Berger, and Kenneth Jennings, English madrigals on the theme of love and dance, and a set of Spanish madrigals on the topic of gossip and infidelity. The Madrigal Singers will also perform a skit based on contemporary culture to add some levity to the evening.
